Moving cats to Australia from the UK is not a straightforward process for pet owners. The country’s biosecurity laws are tight, so the international pet relocation process needs to start around 8 to 9 months before your travel date.

Before taking cats to Australia from the UK, you will need to: 
1. Get your cat microchipped to ISO standard 11784/11785
2. Apply for an import permit through the Australian Department of Agriculture (DAFF)
3. Ensure your cat is vaccinated against rabies after microchipping and when at least 12 weeks old
4. Book a Rabies Neutralising Antibody Titre Test (RNATT) at least 180 days before travel
5. Arrange pre-export parasite treatments within the timeframe specified on your import permit
6. Have an Official Veterinarian issue an export health certificate close to departure
7. Book a quarantine place at the Melbourne facility in Victoria
