Why do I need to measure my dog?

Your pets need to travel in containers that conform to IATA standards. Your pets must be able to lie down, stand up and turn around comfortably in their travel container(s). It is important to get the measurements right for your pet's comfort and safety, as they could be refused travel if the container isn't the right size.

Another factor to take into consideration would be one of price. Pets travel in the heated hold of passenger aircraft. The charge is based and calculated upon the amount of space your pet's travel container occupies i.e. it's volumetric weight. An over sized container means unnecessary additional cost!

How to Measure your Dog

Your dog(s) think this is great fun and sometimes it is better if two people can work together to achieve the requirements below!

MEASUREMENT A: tip of nose to base of tail - this is a straight line, do not follow curve of neck and do not include tail

MEASUREMENT B: floor to elbow joint - about halfway up leg

MEASUREMENT C: width across widest point of shoulders. This is a straight flat measurement, please press down on fur.
MEASUREMENT D: floor to highest point on head - include ears if they are upright
Please do not be over generous in your measurements. We will add on the appropriate measurements to ensure the containers are the correct size.
